Current News for our campers ...

  • We are currently under STAGE 2 FIRE BAN and we are not allowed to have camp fires.

  • The Bikes are FREE to use! They are located near the pavilion and playground. Please return them each night to the bike station. If one needs attention, please let us know.

  • We have Cornhole boards and bags at the office to check out and enjoy. We also have a disc golf basket in Taylor park. Discs can also be checked out at the office.

  • There is a 2 ½ acre off-leash area for your pets in the Southwest corner of the park (on the other side of the split rail fence).

  • You DO need a fishing license to fish the Rio Grande River. Fly fishing or bait fishing is allowed. Fishing licenses plus bait and gear can be found at the Lowe’s grocery store on the East side of town.

  • Jackalope Anglers on Spruce Street and Main rents float tubes, Kayaks and Paddleboards, plus life jackets! You are welcome to play in the river. If you start at the far west end of the park, you can float about ½ mile of river to the city park. There is an easy place to exit the river and a concrete walkway that brings you right back to the campground. Jackalope also does guided fishing tours. Their phone number is 719-657-1654.

  • There are numerous music venues throughout town. Most post their scheduled musicians in their windows. Check out Carther’s, Trade and Post, and the 1874 Distillery for their musical lineups.

  • We have several excellent restaurants in town in case you don’t want to cook after a fun day of exploring or playing in the river. There are some really good coffee shops, unique gift and home good stores, and a fun antique and secondhand store - all with friendly welcoming merchants and just 5 minutes away.

  • We hope you enjoy your time with us, and we hope to see you again!
